COMPETITIONS

Do you fancy representing the Club as part of a team or as an individual in affiliated Riding Club competitions? We are in Area 21 of the Riding Clubs, which covers most of South Wales .

We are always looking for riders prepared to ride under the CDRC banner.

We compete at Dressage, Horse trials, Show and Style Jumping and Show jumping. There is a range of standards from Preliminary to Elementary in dressage; there is also a dressage to music event. Jumping starts from about 1'9” to 3'6”, so all abilities are required.

There are a few MUSTS though:

You must be a fully paid up riding member of the Riding Club.

1.You must comply with the rules, the dress code and tack criteria.

2.Your horse must be up to date with vaccinations requirements.

3.You must be prepared to pay your own way, including competition entry fees and travel costs (although we do try to share these when competitions are further afield).

4.You should be prepared to train for the competitions, and if necessary go through a selection process.

5.Entries normally need to be in 6-8 weeks beforehand, so it is important for Gill to know of your interest in plenty of time!

Gill Evans is our Competitions Organiser, so please email Gill in the first instance to learn more. ( blaen-y-coed@hotmail.co.uk). She will guide you through the maze of rules…and yu are advised to purchase your own Riding club rule book from the Riding club office, it's only about £5. (don't forget your 10% discount too). It is also important to check the Riding club website for any updates in rules. Details are on our links page.

IMPORTANT NEWS: The club has just received a letter from BRC regrading a rule book amendment. Reads as follows:- Please note that there is a mistake in the 2009 rule book with regard to permitted tack for dressage competitions. Hackamores and bitless bridles are not permitted for dressage. Side saddles are permitted for dressage. Full information can be found on the BRC website. Click here.
